Achievements:
Bob has worked in the public sector for more than 38 years and has extensive experience in leadership and management.  He received the Public Service Medal in 2003.

Prior to 1996 Bob held a number of senior leadership roles at the Building Management Authority including Director of Business Services, Manager Supply and Manager Maintenance.   

Bob was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Fire and Rescue Service in WA 1996 and in 1999 was appointed the inaugural Chief Executive Officer of the Fire and Emergency Services Authority of Western Australia (FESA). 

FESA is comprised of the Fire and Rescue Service, the Bush Fire Service, the State Emergency Service, the Volunteer Marine Rescue Service and has responsibility for the emergency management arrangements in Western Australia. It has a staff of 1200 and it supports 29,000 emergency service volunteers around the State. 

Bob undertook a number of leadership roles during his decade with emergency services including Chairman of the State Mitigation and Deputy Chairman of the peak State Emergency Management Committee.  In addition Bob was the President of the Australasian Fire Authorities Council for two years from 1999 to 2000 as well as representing Western Australia on a number of national committees.  

In February 2006, Bob took on the role of Director General of the Department of Housing and Works.  He embarked on an extensive departmental restructure and review program to better position DHW for the challenges to come in the future. 

After a successful two years in this role Bob retired to pursue other interests.
