John Sweeney is an active Sydney company director, entrepreneur, and executive mentor.

John has over 45 years experience in banking and finance. He commenced his career with the Bank of New South Wales (now Westpac). He later moved to Australian Guarantee Corporation, where he held a number of executive positions including National Operations Manager for the Commercial Finance Division.

John then moved to ORIX Australia Corporation, a wholly owed subsidiary of ORIX Japan, where he commenced as General Manager Operations. He was promoted to Chief General Manager Commercial Finance and subsequently to Deputy Managing Director and then Managing Director in 1995, responsible for Australia and New Zealand.

John served as Chairman of Australia Finance Conference Ltd (the industry association for finance companies and building societies) and was Chairman, Austral Mercantile Collection Pty Ltd and a director of ORIX New Zealand Limited.

Having been a highly successful CEO over two decades, John retired in 2005 at an early age to manage his extensive personal business interests. John and his family are innovators, and this is reflected in the range of companies they have established.

John is currently a member of the Diocesan Audit Committee of the Catholic Church, Diocese of Parramatta and is Chairman of the Finance Committee, St Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, Penrith.
