Achievements:
After commencing his career as a research pharmacist, Richard moved into management roles, initially involving marketing followed by chief executive roles over a 25 year period involving manufacturing, retail and charitable organisations.
From 1997 until his retirement in 2006, Richard was Chief Executive Officer, James Brown Memorial Trust, which operates residential aged care facilities in South Australia (Nursing Home, Aged Care Hostels, Retirement Village, Pensioner Flats and Cottages). Prior to taking up this CEO position, was a member of the Board of Trustees for James Brown Memorial Trust for two years.
Richard held CEO positions for Australian Red Cross Society (SA Division) from 1982-1989, National Pharmacies from 1989-1996, and Laubman and Pank Optometrists from 1996-1997.
In these roles he gained both an excellent reputation as a leader, bringing success to his organisations through a focus on strategic planning and organisational culture change.
Richard’s management expertise was recognised through his holding of numerous industry and related association positions at both the state and national level, including President of the Australian Institute of Management (SA), Chairman of Aged and Community Services Australia National Housing and Retirement Living Advisory Committee and National President of the Australian Friendly Societies Pharmacies Association.
Richard has maintained his strong focus on helping others to achieve their potential through his current professional activities as a course leader on a range of management topics and as an executive coach
